Flagstaff Councilmember Karla Brewster
Flagstaff Councilmember Karla Brewster is re-running for election. The primary, if there is one, will be March 13th, with mail-in ballots to go out Feb. 16th. This council and mayoral elections are only a mail-in ballot; not a local precinct one. The general election (also a mail-in ballot) is May 15th.
Karla was first elected in May, 2008. She is a full-time employee at NAU and was a long-time teacher in the valley before moving to Flagstaff.
Karla has been an advocate of:
- ECoNA – Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona which is a regional economic collaborative to draw businesses to our region, which creates jobs
- NACET – Northern Arizona Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology for new start-up businesses, located on the USGS mesa
- Expansion of NACET facilities into an Innovation Mesa for graduating businesses to locate and stay in Flagstaff (jobs)
- City Green Initiatives with a purchasing power agreement (PPA) for solar on new city facilities through a resolution passed last year
- Pursuing another airline through our Economic Vitality division to enhance our choices and services for airlines
- Continuing to add to our Urban Trail system and commitment to our open spaces as a very necessary quality of life issue for Flagstaff
- Designation of a 100 year water supply for planning for our future (which was just recently done)
